Start From the Outcome and Work Backward
Do not plan a launch forward and hope it adds up. Name the result you want, then reverse-engineer the steps to it.
Most people plan a launch the hard way: they start from where they are, do a bunch of stuff, and hope it adds up to a good result. It rarely does, because there was never a clear target to aim at — just motion and hope.
There's a better way, and it runs in reverse. Start from the outcome you want, then work backward to today. Decide the result first — this many sales, this many members, this much revenue — and then figure out what has to be true for that to happen.
Work the math backward
Reverse-engineering turns a vague wish into a concrete plan. Say you want twenty sales, and you know roughly two in a hundred of the right people tend to buy. That means about a thousand of the right people need to see the offer. Now you have a real question to solve: where do those thousand come from, and what brings them in? Each answer becomes a step, and the steps become your plan.
It also changes your mindset. Planning backward from the launch you want keeps you operating with intention, instead of reacting nervously to the launch you're afraid of. You're building toward a target, not bracing for disappointment.
So before the next launch, name the outcome in plain numbers. Then walk it back, step by step, until you reach something you can do this week. Build forward from there. A launch aimed at a clear target beats one that's just a hopeful pile of activity.
