If They Can't Explain It Back, It's Too Complex to Sell.
If a buyer cannot repeat your offer in one sentence, it is too complicated. Lead with the outcome and cut the rest.
Here's a quiet test for any offer: after someone hears about it, can they turn around and explain it to a friend in one sentence? If they can, you've got something sellable. If they stumble, your offer is too complicated — and complicated things don't sell, they confuse.
Creators tend to over-explain. We know our work deeply, so we pile on features, steps, and caveats, thinking more detail makes the value clearer. It does the opposite. Every extra clause gives the buyer one more thing to puzzle over, and a confused buyer doesn't ask questions. They just leave.
Name the outcome in one clean line
The fix is to lead with the outcome, stated as simply as you can manage. Not the seventeen things inside the offer — the one thing the buyer walks away with. "I'll help you launch your first paid newsletter in 30 days" beats three paragraphs about modules and bonuses. The simple version is the one that travels, because it's the one people can repeat.
This matters beyond the sales page. When your offer is simple enough to explain back, your buyers become your marketers — they tell friends, because they can. When it's a tangled mess, word of mouth dies, because nobody can summarize what you do.
So before you launch anything, say it out loud in one sentence. If it doesn't fit, the problem isn't your explanation. It's the offer. Cut until what's left is clear enough that a stranger could sell it for you.
